Why does my vinyl appear wrinkled after washing cotton garments?

Modified on Wed, 15 May, 2024 at 9:35 AM

Cotton may shrink during the washing process (more common in the first couple of washes). Therefore thinner garment vinyls such as Superflex may show a ‘wrinkling’ effect as the vinyl does not shrink with the garment.

This is not a problem with the garment vinyl itself - one way to show this would be to apply the same garment vinyl on to a polyester fabric and run wash tests to see if the same problem occurs.

Thicker  garment vinyl does limit this problem however all garments should be tested thoroughly.

*Heavier Cotton garment’s i.e. heavy sweatshirt’s/hoodie’s generally shrink more than t-shirt’s etc.
